A Hero for the
American Red Cross?
Heroes
for the American Red Cross is an
annual fundraising campaign that is implemented by the Colonial Virginia Chapter
and will run March through June.
The
chapter aims to raise $36,000 to cover operating expenses.
We are looking for individuals in the
Our
other goals include creating a level of visibility usually seen only during a
major disaster and to involve dozens of new volunteers in the chapter’s
efforts!

“HEROES”
DONATION
AT WORK
Provides certified instruction in
first aid; CPR; pet first aid; water safety; life guarding; small craft safety;
safety training for swim coaches; babysitting; prevention of disease
transmission, sport safety training; automated external defibrillation (AED)
training & all instructor level courses.
Provides 24/7 emergency
assistance to victims of disasters. Coordinates
emergency housing, clothing and food. Operates
mass care shelters during major disaster events.
Provides community disaster education.
Armed Forces Emergency Service (AFES):
Provides
24/7 emergency communication link between immediate family members and service
personnel stationed worldwide. Provides
verifications of emergencies at home requiring a service member's presence;
delivering birth messages to deployed service members and providing health and
welfare reports when there has been a breakdown in communications.
When you raise $1000
for the Colonial Virginia Chapter of the American Red Cross your money touches
the lives of families in many different ways.
Here are just a few ways $1000 can help
your community:
$1000
will provide groceries for up to 20 disaster victims.
$1000
will provide shoes and clothing for 2 families (of four) who lost their home to
a fire or natural disaster.
$1000
will provide disaster preparedness materials for your community so approximately
11,750 local citizens can learn how to create a family disaster plan or build a
disaster supply kit.
$1000
will provide the “Masters of Disaster” disaster preparedness course for 28
elementary or middle school classrooms so children understand how to stay safe
in an emergency.
